Break Attempt Brings Second District Case
Charles Kingston 30 of St. Louis waived a preliminary hearing on a felonious assault charge tied to an Oct. 31 jail break attempt at Douglas County Jail. Bound over to February term, Kingston remains jailed with 15000 bond on this charge and the same on a second degree burglary charge from Oct. 17. He struck Deputy Sheriff Floyd Baker with a broomstick during the escape attempt in the cellblocks but did not reach the security section. In other county action, Charles Hendrix 20 of Kansas City has a preliminary hearing set for 2 pm Nov. 18, jailed on felonious shoplifting and illegal marijuana possession with 2000 bond. Four others arrested with him posted 1500 bond each on shoplifting charges. two 17 year olds released to parents. The four prelims are set for 2:30 pm Nov. 18. The four are Marvin Changler 18, Mert Allen 18, Richard Bess 19, Bertram Jackson 19, all of Kansas City.
