Lyle Hoover Named 4-H Meeting Delegate
Lyle Hoover age 18 son of Mr and Mrs Raymond Hoover Route 5 was named one of six delegates to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. The meeting runs November 29 to December 3 with Hoover to receive a $500 Santa Fe Railroad scholarship. Hoover is a freshman at Kansas State Teachers College Emporia and member of the Lone Star 4H Club. Dee Ann Crawford Baldwin current Douglas County Dairy Princess was also named a delegate to the National 4-H Dairy Conference in Chicago December 3 to 5.

vandals scaled the cemetery fence around Christ Church where Benjamin Franklin and four signers are buried. they walked among brittle headstones, knocked some over and defaced others, damaging twenty markers. Reverend Ernest A Harding called it a senseless act in the historic burial ground.

Dentists Probe Blue Shield Plan in Kansas
Kansas State Dental Association completed preliminary planning for a Blue Shield type dental care program. The non profit prepaid plan would be underwritten and run by Kansas Blue Shield. Kenneth L. Allen said the basic plan was approved by the dental and medical associations and next steps include contract details and submission to the state insurance office.

Wind Blows Car and Trailer on Turnpike Near Lawrence
Strong winds caused a rollover on the Kansas Turnpike about ten miles west of Lawrence. A westbound car and house trailer driven by Myra Goins of Peoria Illinois exited the roadway and overturned, with damages estimated at 500 to the car and 7000 to the trailer. No injuries were reported. A separate deer collision east of Lawrence killed by Paul C Smith of Parkville Missouri was investigated by Trooper Jay Core.
