Wellsville Doctor Victor Haury Dies at 50
Dr. Victor G. Haury Sr. of Wellsville, 50, died Friday at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City after a week as a patient. An authority in pharmacology and internal medicine, he lectured at Kansas University Medical Center and taught at Jefferson Medical College. He practiced in Audubon, N. J., before moving to Wellsville in 1947. Surviving: wife Lucille, sons Victor Jr. and Nicholas Arnold, his father Henry H. Haury, four brothers and four sisters. Services Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Wellsville Methodist Church. burial in Wellsville Cemetery.

Elmdale Kansas report: Mrs. Walter B. Neel age 67 of Hutchinson was killed when her husband’s car lost control on US 50S. The Neels were hit by a truck, Mrs Neel thrown and run over. Neel injured lightly. Victor G. Bucher 53 Strong City and Opal 52 Bucher injured after swerving to avoid collision.

Rock Island Worker Hurt As Train Passes in City
E. F. Bolling a 40 year old Belleville resident was struck by coal thrown at a Rock Island freight train as it passed North Fourth Street in Lawrence. He lay unconscious on the caboose platform for about an hour until the train reached Topeka where emergency treatment was given for a scalp wound. Police and detectives investigate.

Wichita Family Escapes Injury After Car Hits Animal
Three members of a Wichita family escaped injury when their car struck an animal and overturned eight miles south of Lawrence on U S Highway 59. Robert Cecil Wilbur, 34, said he could not stop in time to avoid the animal, and the car went out of control. The family included his wife and daughter. Officers could not locate the animal after the crash and the car was demolished.
