Ex Mental Patient Faces Murder Charge in Texas

A former mental patient, George Albert Whittington Jr., 26, is charged with murder after five Tennessee teens were found imprisoned Tuesday night in a Houston area house. Eddie Eugene Seat, 18, of Dyersburg, was drowned in a bath tub. three teens were found in a locked closet. The survivors Robert Franklin Davis 16 Michael Davis 18 Candy Marie Davis 16 and Kenneth Colvin 16 hitchhiked to Beaumont seeking work. Colvin was wanted in Dyersburg on grand larceny and third degree burglary. Six youths left Dyersburg Saturday. Calvin Colvin turned back after Louisiana questioning.

Cleanup campaign delayed by project reports and cold snap

Lawrence organizers say assessment of the Fall Mini Cleanup is postponed until reports on completed and planned projects are finished. Chairwoman Mrs. Camera Nash cites a cold snap slowing execution of several projects and ongoing reports to the Chamber of Commerce Women's Division.

Ground Broken for Hunt Park in Kansas City

Ground breaking ceremony held for La mar Hunt's Worlds of Fun recreation park about seven miles northeast of downtown Kansas City. Hunt, Chiefs owner and Mid-American Enterprises chair, led officials in the event. The project covers about 140 acres with 360 acres for related commercial use and aims to finish by April 1973. The park will feature five world sections American European African Scandinavian and Oriental.

Christmas Mail Allowed for POWs in Vietnam

A Vietnam prisoner support group says North Vietnamese authorities will accept one 11 pound package and one greeting card for each American prisoner at Christmas. Barbara Webster reported Paris assurances from Nguyen Minh By to renew the yearly mail privilege, noting North Vietnam recognizes the committee as the sole contact between prisoners and families via its New York office.

Senate balks at deeper cuts for arms aid

The Senate rejected 64 to 24 a bid to cut military aid further, fearing new reductions would threaten U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam. Senators Fulbright and Stennis clashed over adds and restores totaling hundreds of millions within a $2.3 billion foreign aid package as the clock ticks toward November 15 expiration.
