State cuts assistance list by one third
Kansas officials announced a major change to a program aiding low income residents with physical disabilities. About one third on the waiting list were removed due to unreachable contact. Gov. Brownback and Lt. Gov. Colyer said the state will use July 1 funds to extend services to 100 additional people while improving the list management. The program helps disabled individuals stay in home or community settings instead of nursing homes. The administration has faced criticism over the list and access to services.
