Iowa State beats Kansas 13 10 after a late field goal with 9 12 to play. ISU ahead 13 10, Kansas had failed drives and a fumble in final seconds, while Barnett and Webb led passing and rushing for the teams and key receivers piled up yardage.
Bradley McDougald stood up ballcarriers, forced a fumble and returned an interception 29 yards in one of the best games of his career. He had 10 solo tackles and two for a loss as a senior-to-be. D J Beshears had double-digit gains in four ways with five receptions and a 22 yard TD run. Alex Mueller misfired on field goals from 49 and 36 respectively and 36 yards. Ron Doherty replaced him. James Sims ran and blocked hard and suffered a rare fumble.
Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads praised the 13-10 win over Kansas as a beautiful victory after a hard fought battle in Ames. QB Jared Barnett led 125 rushing yards on 22 carries as ISU moved within one win of bowl eligibility at 5-4. The Cyclones relied on a 42-yard Zach Guyer field goal with 4:30 left to seal the victory.
Kansas struggles on offense in a 13-10 loss to Iowa State. Gill punts on critical fourth downs while Iowa State uses Jeff Woody and Jared Barnett to seal the game. Miller leads KU with 70 rushing yards as KU’s defense holds ISU scoreless in the third but cannot clinch a comeback.
