Persistent scam medical lure targets weak and debilitated readers offering a so called Book of Life by Dr Parker. Addressed to Nashville Tennessee readers with promises of vigor restoration and sensational claims. Goods include an offer to haul away dead animals for payment and vault cleaning services with a satisfaction guarantee.
A Delaware, Lackawanna & Western express wrecked near Rock Cut three miles from the city after a switch misalignment, killing engineer Michael Burke and coal-train engineer J W Dorle, injuring many passengers including Mrs. Thomas Corcoran. The collision buried four others, and a boy operator at the station caused the crash by switching the track late. The disaster triggers a half million dollar fire loss in San Francisco.
