United Way Fund Drive Falls Short of Goal in 1992-93
The United Way of Douglas County reports 871 312 dollars raised, 81 percent of the 1 076 928 goal as of the drive ending Friday. Chair Diane Mullens says pledges continue from individuals and eight major companies keep drives active. A final total will be announced at a victory celebration November 20 at Adams Alumni Center.

County to review 911 address changes for rural residents
Douglas County will study a draft letter from Emergency Medical Services director Ted McFarlane explaining how rural addresses will switch from route and box numbers to the county grid system for enhanced 911. About 4,000 letters are to be mailed. the post office will honor old rural addresses for a year. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the county courthouse.
