U S auto sales stay strong but prices flatten as discounts increase. Edmunds reports average discounts per vehicle rose 16.5 percent year over year to 3472 dollars in October, driven by more crossovers and SUVs shifting buyers toward cheaper models.
U S auto market led by sales gains as consumers ditch passenger cars. The shift produced a $491 average discount per vehicle, far surpassing the $128 average price increase per vehicle cited by Kelley Blue Book, a car buying advisory firm.
