Peace talks adjourn amid rancor over next venue

Winter storm spares Lawrence area in statewide blow

Lawrence and Douglas County escaped the brunt of the first winter storm of the season while most of the state took heavier conditions. The city logged 0.70 inches of rain and 0.16 inches from 4 inches of snow by 7 am. One to two inches of snow were forecast to accumulate today before tapering off in the afternoon. City crews spread sand on streets since 4 am with seven trucks working, and officials reported few street complaints.

Russia KU All Stars game canceled by travel delays

The Russia Kansas All Star Classic to fund a 75000 debt was postponed as Soviet players cannot reach Lawrence by Saturday due to Aeroflot ticketing with rubles.
