Lawrence real estate man Orville Midgett dies at 51

Orville Howell Midgett a Lawrence realtor died Saturday evening at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after consecutive heart attacks. He was 51. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Rumsey Funeral Home with burial in DeSoto Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, a daughter Linda Campbell, two sons Gary and Larry Midgett, a sister Corrine Gordon, four brothers, and three grandchildren. He was a former partner in Miller and Midgett Realtors and had been active in the Lawrence Board of Realtors and local church and civic groups. Donations are encouraged to the Heart Fund.

Kansas University Chancellor W Clarke Wescoe spent today in Rochester Minnesota at a Mayo Foundation meeting. He earlier attended a Alpha Tau Omega foundation board of governors meeting in Chicago Illinois. He was to return to Lawrence that night.

Geologists Meet Today at KU Conference Opens in Midwest

Hercules Pact to be debated by Kansas City unions

Representatives of 14 building and construction trades unions in the Kansas City area will meet at 8 p m in the Lawrence Community Building to consider ratification of a Hercules Powder Co proposal. Man Burns to Death in Viet Nam Pagoda

In Saigon a man in yellow Buddhist robes ignited gasoline soaked clothing and burned inside the Vien Hoa Dao pagoda grounds. Several hundred spectators viewed the body as monks sought to learn the motive. The man’s identity and reasons remain unknown.
