Alaska Quake Triggers Yellowstone Geyser Changes
A 2002 magnitude 7.9 Denali earthquake in Alaska sparked a wave of over 1,000 local quakes near Yellowstone National Park within a week. Study authors say distant surface waves altered underground water steam pressures, changing eruption intervals in several geysers and keeping geysers active by shaking loose minerals.

Africa not isolated early in Gondwana split, fossil finds say
In Niger Sahara, paleontologist Paul Sereno reports Rugops primus a 95 million year old abelisaurid supports Africa remaining connected to other southern landmasses via land bridges until about 100 million years ago This fossil challenges the view that Africa split from Gondwana earlier and suggests a later continental separation.
