Ottawa woman leads troops support rallies at Forest Park
Sherry Wright organized a April 2003 rally in Ottawa with help from her husband Larry to boost troop morale amid the Iraq war. A prior memorial event honored fallen local soldiers and Marines. Wright, battling ovarian cancer, pursued the memorial while surviving the disease and later received recognition from the Wellsville American Legion Post 194. Her family has multiple veterans, including her father Marshall Ball Sr and Duane Ball who died in the Korean War, plus cousin Gary Hendrickson who died in Vietnam. Wright vows ongoing support for troops and families as long as she can.
