Staresinic-Deane, a Kansas native and USC English major, self published Shadow on the Hill after discovering a 1957 obituary and folder on the Knoblack murder in Burlington. She raised startup funds via Kickstarter, sold about 600 copies, and plans a second book exploring Kansas murders from the 1910s.
