In June last year a court ruled KU Hospital could not recover about $140,000 for treating Alberto Contreras Gonzalez, an undocumented immigrant who leaped from a Waabaunsee County Jail window. ICE held him 48 hours but did not take him into custody, leaving the hospital unable to charge the agency.
