Kobach readies to prosecute election fraud in Kansas

Secretary of State Kris Kobach said his office will begin immediately to prepare election fraud prosecutions if Gov. Sam Brownback signs a bill granting him authority. The measure passed the House 67-55 and now awaits the governor’s action. Kobach expects first prosecutions by July or August, though Brownback’s office declined to comment. The move follows Kobach’s push for photo ID at polls and proof of citizenship for registrants. Critics say fraud cases are rare and partisan.
