Lawrence city commissioners approve a 50 percent property tax abatement for Jayhawk Bowling Supply to relocate to a new building on North Iowa Street costing up to 868000. The plan saves about 13000 in taxes in exchange for two new jobs, keeping the firm in Lawrence where it started 37 years ago. The vote split with one dissenting commissioner.
