County moves to formalize parkway interlocal pact

Slattery seeks higher funding for Haskell College

U S Rep Jim Slattery urged the House Interior subcommittee to reject Bush administration budget cuts to Haskell Indian Junior College and oppose tuition charges. He noted the Bureau of Indian Affairs proposes cutting the base budget from 7.1 million to 5.8 million, which could cut summer school, natural resources expansion, and a planned teacher education program, while tuition of 1000 to 1200 dollars was proposed for students who currently pay none.
