Israel Press Reports Air Ground Assaults Near Suez and Jordan

Israeli jets and ground forces claimed to have shot down three Egyptian MiGs near the Suez Canal and rolled into central Jordan to hit a guerrilla base south of the Dead Sea. A Jordanian spokesman cited a company of tanks and mobile infantry in the engagement with forces south of the Dead Sea. Casualties were not confirmed.

Bicycle Collision Injures Lawrence Boy on West 29th

Stephen M. Schugart, 10, of 1118 West 29th Terrace, rode into the path of a car driven by Loraine M. Wilson at 1114 West 29th Terrace. He was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Five other people suffered minor injuries in two of ten accidents investigated Tuesday.

Campus Turmoil Topics Prompted Sertoma Evening

The city tabled several improvements with an East and West 15th Street paving hearing set for June 17. Bids on 15 year general obligation bonds of 620000 will be opened June 3 for fire, pool, and park works. Planning commissions and health planning reps were appointed. ordinances address parking, stop signs, park hours, and parking lot financing and drainage rules.

An estimated 300 vandalism occurred during the weekend to two rooms at the Ramada Inn at 6th and Iowa Streets. John Oliver, a Ramada employee, reported the loss of bedding valued at 57 dollars and total losses around 443.32 dollars, including unpaid room rentals. A man using a fictitious name checked in Thursday night and left without paying.

Lawrence National Elects Monte Johnson as Director

Monte Johnson, assistant director of athletics at Kansas University since 1964, was elected to the board of directors of Lawrence National Bank and Trust Co. Gray Canfield Sign KU Letters

Randy Canfield and Leonard Gray top Kansas prospects signed NCAA letters to attend Kansas University. Lawrence Air Show Aims 20000 For Airport VOR Gear

Jaycees sponsor a weekend air show to raise about 16000 toward Lawrence Airport VOR equipment with Kansas Power and Light contributing 4000. The two day event includes antique aircraft fly in Saturday with free admission and Sunday shows by National Air Shows with paid admission expected to draw 15000 or more. Calf Killed by Pickup Near Eudora Tuesday

A pickup driven by Jack B. Carrow struck and killed a Hereford heifer calf owned by Keith Starr on the Baldwin blacktop road five miles south of Eudora Tuesday. Damage to the truck estimated at 800 dollars. calf value about 3300 dollars. Carrow, 38, Wells-ville, Kansas, said he met another vehicle and could not avoid the calf.
