Western Kansas saw continued heavy rains last night with weekly moisture totals approaching five inches in some locations. Central portions also received substantial rain, with Cawker City at 2.97 inches and Alton at 2.55. Flooding occurred in the southwest as highways near Mead, Fowler, Sublette and Plains and rail lines near Meade were blocked.

Bartee resulted in a $100 fine, 30 days jail, suspended with six months probation.

A seven year old Lawrence boy, Jamie Weaver, was seriously injured Wednesday evening when his bicycle collided with a car at the North and 4th Street intersection. He suffered head and upper body injuries, with partial loss of an ear, as gravel ground into his skin. he was moved to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and then to Wichita for treatment by a plastic surgeon. The car driver, Jasper Roland Nall, 43, Route 3, said he swerved to avoid the bicycle and was cited for driving with inadequate brakes.

Frederick W Warsop 84 De Soto died last night at Reese hospital Gardner after a lung illness. He moved to Johnson County near De Soto in 1899 and ran a blacksmith shop thirteen years. He then led a Ford agency in De Soto until 1925 and later worked at KU Lawrence until retirement in 1935. Survived by wife Olive, daughter Mable Grob of Lawrence, sons Louis and Lawrence of De Soto, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral 2 o clock Friday at De Soto Methodist Church burial in De Soto Cemetery. Graveside rites by De Soto Masonic Lodge.
