Teachers rally at Kansas Statehouse over Brownback policies
About 300 teachers and education advocates gathered on the Kansas Statehouse grounds on Saturday to oppose Governor Sam Brownback’s public school funding and tenure policies. The event marked the Brown v. Board of Education anniversary and also spotlighted Paul Davis as a Democratic gubernatorial candidate. Speakers criticized tax cuts and corporate tax credits, while supportive data cited new hires and raises in some districts. The protest pressed for more funding to fulfill equal educational opportunities and ladder of opportunity for children.
