An itinerant tailor announces his arrival in Lawrence, claiming to be as skilled as any cutter in the state. He says he has located rooms over Pendleton's Grocery on Massachusetts Street, will stock samples of foreign and domestic woolen fabrics, and invites locals to call for a trial.

75 Cents Round Trip Picnic Excursion To Helix Grove

The Ewedih society of N.N. E. invites a 75 cents round trip to a coeebration and basket picnic at Helix Grove Topeka next Sunday. Procession departs 549 Main Street at 9 a m. Special trains via A T F will serve Lawrence at 3 30 a m. Return from Topeka 7 30 p m. Heck’s Band will meet the train.

Murder indictments in Cave Spring case blamed on farmers

Deputy Sheriff E E Davis and officers from North Springfield and Springfield arrested James Sterling John Gilmore and Jacob Kelso at Cave Spring for the murder of Jos Parks near that place on February 14 1883. Grand Jury indicted all three and they are jailed. Railroad property assessment in Topeka notes 169 16 100 miles added and value rise to 2127208 95 with average per mile 7031 86 and main lines at 10000 per mile. Telegraph wires valued at 70 per mile. further lines to be assessed locally.
