Baltimore & Ohio case delays sale over state taxes

The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad case won a preliminary sanction to halt sale of property seized for state taxes. Illinois House deadlocked over the high license bill until a yesterday morning vote adopted Willoughby’s amendment setting beer licenses at 250 and whisky at 340. A Monday storm swept Indiana and Ohio, destroying Waterloo and other areas, with $70,000 damage in Pasbate County. Fitzbarris, cab driver, was tried for accessory to murder, found guilty, and sentenced to life in penal servitude.

Cattle range reports thrifty, shipments set to rise

Promoted Luke Short to Assistant General Superintendent

Topeka May 6. Mr A A Hobin long connected with the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroad at Newton has been promoted to Assistant General Superintendent, a post formerly held by W S Miller. He will take the role June 1. Short plans to return to Dodge City soon and will stay a few days. Masterson accompanies him but his plans are undecided. Grand Jury returns two conspiracy to murder indictments against Kingston Gibney and Healey for Poole murder, and a third for threatening the life of the jury foreman.
