Obama vows halt to military sexual abuse
President Obama said military leaders told him they are ashamed of failing to end sexual abuse in the armed forces and pledged to leave no stone unturned. He asked Defense Secretary Hagel and Gen. Dempsey to lead a process to root out the problem amid a Pentagon review suggesting up to 26,000 service members were sexually assaulted last year. General Odierno acknowledged the Army’s failings and urged a primary focus on fighting sexual misconduct as trust within units has been broken. Hagel will consult with Congress and other militaries worldwide.
