Tax Free Chanute Has Its Own Plan and Pride
Chanute Kansas residents pay no city tax since 1950 and the municipality carries no debt with a treasury between 400000 and 590000. Public utilities have spurred growth including a municipal airport building and library, with a 5000000 program to expand power plant output and rural reach. City clerk Cooper notes rates stay within state norms and bills are enforced by month end without dispute.
