Private employer adds 1,500 jobs amid Obamacare debate

GDIT plans to hire 1,500 workers, expanding its role as the city’s largest private employer. Applications run on the company site or at a job fair Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence Workforce Center on 2540 Iowa St. This comes as Kansas resists the Affordable Care Act with no state exchange or Medicaid expansion, while federal and mixed-exchange structures roll out in October with 24/7 support.
