Hemingway and Evans Cuba photos go on display in Key West
In 1933 Hemingway and Walker Evans roamed Havana for three weeks as Machado’s Cuba loomed. Benjamin Bruce and the Key West Historical Society uncovered 46 Evans photographs and a $25 loan note linking the pair. The prints, found with Hemingway artifacts, are shown at the Custom House, with a national tour planned through 2007, highlighting the cross influence of writing and photography.
