The body of Smith A Kremer, killed yesterday while coupling a Rock Island train near Alta Vista, Kansas, arrived in Lawrence this morning and was buried at 3 o'clock from the home of his sister, Mrs Will Pendleton, at 1129 Coppectiont Street. Kremer, 30, had been an employee of the Rock Island for years. The Rock Island passenger No 30, supplied by Union Pacific, was allowed to stop in Lawrence to convey the corpse. Accompanying mourners included Mrs Ellen Kremer, his mother, an aunt from Hirington, Dr and Mrs Webb of Preston, and six Rock Island employees.
