Kansas University student Aaron Hale Culwell 19 waived a preliminary hearing for aggravated arson in a case where he allegedly burned a 5 by 3.2 foot swastika shaped carpet section in Oliver Hall. A plea agreement was filed and a plea hearing is set for May 19 in Douglas County District Court.
Olathe teacher Nancy A Farrell faced first court appearance on a blackmail charge tied to a second DUI. Judge Murphy set a 1:45 p.m. June 3 preliminary hearing. Special prosecutor Spradling assigned due to potential conflict. Farrell, 51, teaches at Olathe East High School and is free on 2500 bond.

A Kansas University student sues Naismith Hall operators Allen O Hara Inc and partners alleging inadequate security allowed a May 11 1997 rape. The complaint seeks damages over 75000 dollars and breach of contract claiming premises security implied. Police say the case is ongoing with no suspects named.
