Burns Ruled Death Cause In Zelinski Fire

Paul H. Zelinski 47 of 2200 Harper found burned in a closet of his mobile home after a fire tackle by Lawrence firefighters. Coroner Dr James Reed ruled burns as the cause, noting the body was too burned for autopsy and an exam only was performed. Fire officials continue to probe with Deputy Fire Marshal Lloyd Davies and assistant chief John Kasberger leading the investigation.

Lawrence sees two appointments to state advisory boards

Edwin Stene of Lawrence is named to the Kansas Advisory Council on Intergovernmental Relations for a four year term after retiring from the University of Kansas. Bobby Bell of Overland Park is appointed to the Advisory Athletic Board of the State Athletic Commission, replacing Jack Steadman, while Walter Cragan of Lawrence is reappointed for four years.
