Central Junior High names returning coaches for fall sports
Principal Orvil A. Burlingame Man Dies In Tractor Mishap
Clarence R. Rowe aged 68 died after a tractor accident on his Burlingame area farm. He fell from the machine while cultivating corn and was dragged about three quarters of a mile before his body was found by his wife.

Father Holds Knife At Baby In Philadelphia Standoff

Transfer funds approved for KU Medical Center lab building
TOPEKA AP A transfer of 228 022 was approved by the state Finance Council for a new laboratory building at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City Kansas. The Kansas City school board approved salary increases for teachers and staff and set a record high local school tax rate of $3.31 per $100 assessed valuation. Gov. William H. Avery endorsed feasibility studies for three proposed turnpikes to speed road building. He said Kansas should proceed even if Congress extends interstate funds later.
