Dutch shock troops recaptured airdromes at The Hague and Rotterdam in a see-saw battle with heavy losses at Dordrecht Island. Allied forces, including British and French units, aided by air power, pressed a Rotterdam assault on Waalhaven as German advances continued elsewhere.
Paris reports German forces crossed the Maas in southern Holland and took Arnhem while landings continued. Dutch and Belgian fronts show fragile gains as British air attacks hit beaches and Belgian forts face bombardment. Berlin confirms Eben Emael fall and fort captures in Liege defenses.

Baseball results include White Sox over Tigers 1 to 0 in Detroit. Giants beat Bees 10 to 2 in New York. Phillies edge Dodgers 5 to 4 in Brooklyn. Reds and Cardinals battle to 7 5 0, Cubs win 7 5 3 at Pittsburgh. RAF reports 50 enemy planes destroyed and 20 British planes lost.
Bimelech captured the Preakness at Pimlico this afternoon by two and a half lengths. Midland finished second and Gallahad placed third.
Rome May 11 British ambassador Sir Percy Loraine prepared to protest to Italian authorities after alleged assault on two embassy staffers and anti British posters in Rome. Two American reporters were guests at a dinner when the attack occurred as posters were displayed. Mussolini denounced allied contraband controls as a breach of international law and Italy voiced displeasure over the shipping issue in a senate report.
Paris May 11 Nazi Germany launched its first large scale war drive against France the invasion of the low countries began with a full division of 12000 to 15000 men attacking east of Luxembourg French authorities called it the first great attack of the war while the high command claimed the French held their position The plan aimed to keep French troops occupied along the Maginot line and delayed massing forces into the invaded low countries Belgian Dutch Luxembourg and French sectors saw air battles and ground fighting with French advance guards maintaining momentum in Luxembourg and reoccupying positions near the Moselle river Meanwhile Belgian Dutch and Luxembourg fronts experienced mixed progress as Allied air forces contested German efforts and civilians suffered from bombing raids

London May 11 Churchill formed a five member war cabinet with Labour leaders Attlee and Greenwood joining alongside Neville Chamberlain and Lord Halifax. Outside the cabinet A V Alexander Eden Sinclair and others were appointed to senior posts reflecting cross party inclusion. The three parties said leaders will be consulted on general aims and peace terms.

Police report tulip thieves damaged at least two gardens last night. Ray Wright on 846 Arkansas street reported 50 tulips stolen with bulbs pulled from the ground. The Kaw Valley station tulip bed at Seventh and Michigan streets was destroyed with flowers left on the ground.

He argued the amendment would curb patronage, save taxpayers money and attract young people to government work.
