Federal funds denied for bike paths in Lawrence plan

Lawrence city officials received mixed news from KDOT with federal funds rejected for one bike path and five bike lanes while aid for a bicycle awareness program was approved. The city must fund the full roughly 200000 cost for proposed 15th 19th street lanes and Naismith Drive improvements if pursued.

Lawrence to pick four bidders for city bus service contract

Lawrence commissioners learned four firms remain in the bid to operate the citywide bus service after previously canceling MV Transportation amid FTA concerns. Laidlaw Transit Services and Lawrence Bus Company also re submitted bids along with a new contender Coach USA Transit Services. The deadline for bids was set for Friday.
