Boston officials report Haight Freese brokerage offices in New England under pressure from revivers urging closures. New York cites a run sparked by Boston notices as evidence of spillover. Officials say they will pay dollar for dollar and accuse the suit of spite.

Kansas City May 9. Confronted by the bank president and directors and E. P. Moxey ex pert accountant C Lesly Stockwell confessed yesterday afternoon that he had stolen 1,750 of the bank's money.

A deadly tornado swept through McPherson County at midnight killing twenty four residents. Emergency crews restored order as authorities investigated the disaster and assessed damaged homes and businesses. Local officials urged calm and coordinated shelter and aid for affected families.
A midnight tornado struck Marquette and rural Kansas, killing at least 24 and injuring many as it wiped out homes. The Swedish Lutheran and Methodist churches were demolished, a temporary morgue was set up, and relief crews from Salina and nearby towns worked by lantern light to pull the living from rubble.

The Crane company may dismiss two foremen over refusals to _— a move that could halt 24,000 workers connected to steel and canning. Tension rises as guards shield a new union driver knocked from a wagon and injured amid strike passion.
A dispatch confirms a massacre of Jews at Zhlo mir in southwestern Russia. Rioting began in May and lasted forty eight hours, with Orthodox Christians attacking Jews in the streets. Jews reportedly defended themselves as casualties mounted on both sides.
Edward Calhoun was shot on a San Antonio and Arkansas passenger train at Wallis Texas by W T Eldridge of San Antonio formerly vice president and general manager of the Cane Hell road. Calhoun was brother in law of Captain William Donovan killed by Eldridge three years earlier on a passenger train on the same road. Eldridge was acquitted of that murder and the feud over Caneelt rail interests is cited as motive.

Lawrence city officials enact Ordinance No 166 to vacate Adams Street from 325 feet west of Louisiana to Mississippi and Oread Avenue from Adams Street north to Lee Street. Takes effect after legal publication. Also reports Keighta Temple train travelers, assessor J W Anderson’s first returns, Raymond's slug shot ad, and sale ads for household goods and plants.
