Local girl named Arthritis Walk hero to raise awareness
Sixteen year old Blaney Pickering of Eudora with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis walked about three miles daily with her Dalmatian Justice. The Arthritis Walk drew about 100 participants and raised about $10 000 for the Arthritis Foundation while highlighting that arthritis affects millions in the U S including Kansans.

U S Coast Guard Auxiliary members will conduct a boating safety class on May 14 from 8 30 a m to 5 p m at the fire station at 19th Street and Stewart Avenue. The no fee course includes an optional textbook About Boating Safely and ends with an exam. Completion fulfills Kansas educational requirements for ages 12 to 21 to operate watercraft.
