Deaths Dailen Elliott
Services for 86 year old Dailen Elliott of Lawrence will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey Yost Funeral Home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died May 6 2006 at home. He was born October 6 1919 in Oskaloosa and served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He worked for Midland Dehydration Co for 40 years then the Douglas County Jail and farmed. He was a member of the American Legion. He married Mary Key in 1946 and Evelyn McCleery in 1981. Surviving are a son Richard and several stepchildren, a daughter in Cameron Missouri, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Friends may call Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. and Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences at Rumsey Yost.

Stabbing in Downtown Lawrence Leaves Victim Injured
Lawrence police search for a suspect after a 21 year old man was stabbed Saturday night near 11th and Massachusetts following an altercation two blocks west on Kentucky Street. The victim's injuries were not life threatening and he was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The suspect, a bald white male in dark clothing, fled in a gray conversion van. The victim’s name was not released.
