Fred D Pagley 62 co chief of the United Nations bureau of the New York Daily News died yesterday. A Baldwin Kansas native, he started in journalism at James Millikin University then west coast papers before joining the old New York World in the 1920s. He later became a famed crime reporter for the Tribune and Herald Examiner and authored a Capone biography in 1930 and Muscling In in 1931, a major reference on the American underworld. His widow and three sisters survive.
