Indian Ambassador to Speak at KU Convocation Tuesday

India's ambassador to the United States will address Kansas University at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fraser Theater on "India and Co existence." Ambassador Mohamedall Cursim Chagia arrives Monday night, will tour campus with Chancellor Murphy, meet Indian students, attend lunch, visit Kansas State University, and later meet President Truman in Independence Mo before returning to Washington.

Mrs. Margaret J. Miller 4, longtime Lawrence resident, died in Topeka. Funeral services at Penwell-Gabel Topeka with graveside rites at Memorial Park Lawrence. Born Sept 3 1913 in Spring Hill she moved to Topeka eight years ago. Survivors include son Edwin A. Miller and several relatives. Fred W. Tenny 70 of Ridgewood New Jersey will have graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. A G Parker III officiating. He was formerly of Lawrence and survived by wife Rose H. Tenny.

Tornadoes damaged Dauphin Island Highway area and St Elmo near Mobile. Unconfirmed reports say two stations, a grocery, a skating rink and a Mason lodge were destroyed while a Baptist church was badly damaged. Death toll rose to 29 with injuries in Oklahoma and Mississippi as storms stretched across the region.

Policeman Wounded in Accidental Gun Discharge

Police officer Robert Cassity of 230 Mich Lt was wounded in the right leg Friday night when his revolver discharged accidentally. The bullet entered behind the knee and lodged near the ankle. surgery removed it and his condition was listed as good.
