Filipino student to leave KU for Philippines duties
Federico Piedad, a University of Kansas student for three years, departs Lawrence on May 3 to return to the Philippines as an appointee of the Bureau of Education. He plans to arrive for the June school opening with a BS earned in 1928 and a MA to be conferred. He is KU's second Filipino graduate with high honors, following F. Saddled in flames horse dies at Owen home barn
A valuable saddle horse owned by Prof. A. L. Owen died in a fire that destroyed the barn at 1702 Massachusetts Street. The blaze was spotted at 9 40 and the barn was fully involved before an alarm. Neighbors heard agitation in the barn and found it in flames while attempting to rescue the horse. The origin near the horse’s stall could not be determined and the barn and contents were a total loss.
