Washington May 6 Charles B Brewer special assistant to the attorney general testified before the house committee investigating alleged irregularities at the bureau of engraving and printing. He said he could prove duplication of government bonds valued at about 1 000 000 and alleged thousands more were duplicated or stolen from treasury vaults. Life Termed Released From Leavenworth Prison
Dennis Thomas, a Black man from South Carolina, who was serving a life sentence for an offense against a French girl, was granted a full pardon by Washington and freed at Leavenworth. The city commission approved a twenty year gas franchise for Citizens' Light Heat and Power Company to operate and regulate prices with a public vote to be held at a special election. The deal includes a $900 permit fee and a 2 percent annual revenue share to the city, plus rate controls to protect city interests.
