Detour Plans For Sixth And Iowa Project Through June
City engineer David Cronin says detours for the Sixth and Iowa project will affect turnpike traffic as two tunnels under the intersection close for about six weeks. Detours shift motorists to the North Lawrence interchange via Rockledge Road, though Rockledge remains open and large trucks face restrictions. The project bid came in $500,000 over budget, raising the cost to about $19 million, but engineers urge continuing work to improve intersection capacity.
