County Farmers Mostly Natives
The Economic Research Service notes most Douglas County farm residents were born on farms or grew up on farms. About 400 000 foreign born workers live on U S farms, with non farm born operators higher in the West and Northeast. Farm units remain largely in family hands and larger equipment reduces local farm labor needs.
