Cost Amendment Or Farm Strike Debate In Senate
Waughington May 6 The Farmers Union president A Simpson says if cost-of-production amendment stays in the administration farm relief bill as passed by the Senate there will be no farm strike The Farmers Holiday Association voted at Des Moines to call a strike May 14 Simpson says the platform promised the farmer the cost of production for what he grows and it is up to the administration to make it workable The letter to conferees indicates the cost of production would be higher than parity prices risking unsalable product The association plans no official strike participation and urges a workable price for one commodity to satisfy farmers The issue centers on parity and the feasibility of implementing cost-based pricing for farm products
