Swiveling cleat aims to cut football knee injuries
Dr. Bruce Cameron and Otho Davis unveil a torque based football shoe with a 360 degree swivel front cleat and a torsion heel bar. Tests on high school teams and a Duke camp suggest a potential 70 percent reduction in knee and ankle injuries. Cameron argues motion and twisting cause injuries and that swiveling cleats offer safer direction changes.
