The Drury college team met the University team this afternoon on McCook field with Jones pitching for Kansas and Carl Morgan as umpire from Santa Fe. Ticketing offers list a Topeka round trip of $1.05 for Parker Carnival company and Republican convention events with selling dates from April 30 to May 5 and a return by May 7.
The Douglas County Medical Society met at the court house on May 1. Dr E Smith was elected president and Dr C J Simmons secretary pro tem. Prof WC Head was elected associate member. Dr Chambers presented papers on influenza or La Grippe and on public health mapping. Debates covered disease control, food adulteration, and public labeling. Attendees included Prof Batley, Prof Sayre, and several doctors. lectures followed in the Physics building and a clergy reception occurred afterward with future union services noted.

Ten persons are dead after a collision between the Chicago and St Louis express and a Chicago mail train near Cloverneck station. Six men died instantly and four later died of injuries. Twenty passengers and crew were injured, six seriously, but all are expected to recover. All the dead are from the east. The wreck involved two engines and the coach of the Chicago mail train due to a misunderstanding of orders.
In Chicago on May 5 the disappearance of Miss Gertha Muenter, sister of Prat Muenter charged with poisoning his wife, was resolved as reporters found her at her sister's home. She denied hiding from police, claimed no concealment, said she sought to annoy authorities, and stated she believes her brother is innocent of the accusation.
