Third condemnation action in Douglas County by the Turnpike Authority covers land from an interchange west of Lawrence to the Leavenworth County line. Owners may appeal within 30 days. List of landowners includes Mrs E M Tenney Ridgewood NJ 7 acres 175 dollars Mr and Mrs Carol E Miller Route 5 9.17 acres 3989 20 dollars Mr and Mrs Will Hayden Route 5 40 acres 16096 25 dollars later entries show several others with varying acreages and payments.

Topeka Woman In Good Condition After Wreck
Mrs Nellie Wood sixty eight of Topeka was injured Tuesday near 1th and Miss Sts when a car she rode in veered onto the parking area and struck a tree. She suffered facial cuts broken teeth and a shoulder fracture. Driver Mrs Ruby Farris sixty five of Topeka also injured with a cut nose and ankle fracture and was released Tuesday night. Police say the women had been visiting Dr and Mrs C R Albright at 1120 Miss St and were leaving when the collision occurred. Damage to the car was estimated at 1000.

Hillcrest Pupils Start Fund to Buy Paintings
Hillcrest School sixth graders marked a red letter day by presenting the first original oil painting to the school. The scene in Lawrence from a century ago, painted by Mrs. Frank Gray, was handed to the school during a program announced by Gerry Goetsch. The class also started a permanent picture fund to be added to by various school organizations until another original painting can be purchased. Following the program, pupils were enrolled for next year at Junior High School. JHS principal Charles Gordon attended to sign up the future seventh graders, aided by secretary Mildred Lindley and teachers Miss Marie Woodruff Edwin Burgess and Roger Ruth.

Parole Hearing Set for Two in Marijuana Case
Applications for parole by two men who pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana will be heard at 10 a.m. Saturday by District Judge Frank Gray. James LeRoy Beatty, 24, of 205 E 18th St, and Thestar Dean Perry, 22, of Baldwin, submitted pleas earlier this week. A third man, Richard E. Barker, 26, of 632 Mich. St., pleaded guilty and will be sent to Topeka State Hospital for observation before sentencing.

The Alpha Omicron Pi sorority Corbin Hall North College Hall and Locksley Hall residents and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity presented variety shows at Kansas State Hospital under the Douglas County Red Cross.
