High-speed chase ends on bank of Wakarusa River
Lawrence police pursued a green Dodge pickup suspected in an armed robbery. The truck left Highway 10, rolled off a berm, and crashed at the Wakarusa River embankment. The driver, Theophs Lee Ellis, 29, of Kansas City, Mo., was hospitalized then jailed. A separate crash at 25th and Iowa injured a civilian and prompted an Accident Investigation Unit probe.
