Lieutenant Allan Gerrard and Lieutenant Allan McLeod of the Royal Air Force win the Victoria Cross for bold exploits on offensive patrols. Gerrard, attacking five enemy aircraft and drome assaults, shot one down and aided a comrade before destroying another foe. McLeod, outnumbered by eight, evaded and maneuvered to allow his observer to shoot down three planes while fending off attacks at 4000 feet.
Kansas University seniors Henry Gish and Clarence Lynn from the School of Engineering depart for the engineers training camp in Petersburg Virginia. Fellow seniors T W Warner L M Hull W T Frier and C E Akers will join a special training class in the ordnance department at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Alfred Wieters, with the state health engineering office, will also enter this program. They will report May 6.
