Salina railroad worker killed by crowbar accident
Luther Estes, 51, an employee of the Salina Northern railroad, was killed late yesterday in an unusual accident. Riding home on a motor hand car, a crowbar slipped from the car and struck him in the temple, crushing the skull and killing him instantly. A wife and a daughter had died previously. A visitor from Hastings, North Platte, who was here caring for her mother’s illness, survived.

Kansas City May 1 The contract and wage conference between coal operators and miners extends into a second month with no announcement on when a settlement might come. About 40 000 miners across Kansas Missouri Oklahoma and Arkansas have been idle since April 1 as committees draft an interstate contract and wage scale to replace the expired March 31 agreement. Mrs. Calvin Taylor Killed Cranking Car Near Independence
