Senate adjourned to Monday after Good Friday. Senator Cameron proposed a three Senators three Representatives three citizens commission to study federal commerce regulation. War Dept survey funding of 75000 dollars for surveys west of the Mississippi was noted. House debated journals and discharge of the committee on revision of the laws. Grant to visit April 12. mass meeting planned in St Louis to oppose a third term. Bennett tried to assassinate George Brown at the Globe office in Toronto. Brown wounded but captured the attacker.
Gauvestox Texas March 25. At the banquet last night General Grant thanked the citizens of Galveston for the reception and expressed pleasure in returning to Texas. He recalled his early Texas service as a Second Lieutenant and urged unity and prosperity for the South, hoping for a future without sectional feeling.
Louisville reports that Kentucky Republicans have held conventions in 55 counties with 30 instructing for Grant, 3 for Sherman, and 1 for Blaine. when no instruction was given, Grant delegates were appointed to the State Convention. North Carolina Republicans note two colored delegates for the Chicago convention and two white alternates. Texas Republicans at the state convention favored voting for Grant with a joint instruction and Davis elected as a delegate at large.
A Berlin dispatch reports the Czar in a military trade mood showing friendliness toward Lord Sterling, the British ambassador. Officers of the ministry of ways and communications recently arrested have been sent to Siberia, and their lawyer is transported as well.
Wasuixarox March 25. The Navy Department directs Commander E. E. Potter of the Constellation to Dublin with a cargo of provisions donated by American citizens to relieve Ireland's suffering. The mission aims to show peace victories and foster friendly ties, with return to New York after delivery.
New York money lending rates at six percent with discounts on mercantile paper at six percent. Missouri St. Joseph to Kansas City produce market shows receipts of 430,046 bushels with mixed corn values around 28 to 28.5 cents. Corn receipts 153,607 with in store price around 28c for No 2 mixed and white mixed center. butter market weak and unchanged with selections at 24 to 25c. Market slow and weak overall with nominal rye barley and other grains.
A morning cyclone in Winkteep Kansas injures Mrs Specht Mrs Biggs and Mrs Campbell as their home collapses. A Santa Fe train collided with a freight car near Wichita delaying arrivals. Libbys barn and a smaller building were swept away and not found after ten hours. Trains delayed. heavy snow in St Johns NB. Multiple other updates follow.

Cattle prices show native steers around 4.00 to 4.95 per hundredweight, stockers 3.25 to 4.00, Texans and Louisianas 2.75 to 3.75. Hogs $4.10 to 4.30, packing hogs around 4.10 to 4.30. Sheep active with midrange around 5.00 to 5.83, receipts and shipments noted. Prices quoted across grains and dairy show wheat irregular but higher on some sale lots, flour steady. whiskey and lard higher on the day.
